Overview
IM Practice Manager (formally known as IMBILLS) is an all-inclusive SaaS application containing multiple tools designed to optimize inpatient rounding, improve communication, and facilitate management reporting. Ingenious Med understands that physician data access preferences vary across practices, and therefore, IM Practice Manager works with a variety of input devices. IM Practice Manager is accessible through internet-enabled PCs, laptops, and tablet PCs as well as PDAs- both Palm and Pocket PC. IM Practice Manager addresses the needs of growing inpatient physician practices by tying together billing and performance data across multiple and geographically disparate sites.
As an internet-based software solution, IM Practice Manager does not require customers to purchase or maintain on-site servers at practice locations. Ingenious Med's software services are built as ASP applications, served by redundant web application servers communicating with clustered MS SQL database servers. Practice and patient data are housed behind a Cisco firewall and a Red Hill Networks load balancer. Clients include Windows workstations running Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, using 128-bit SSL encryption. All servers are hosted by RackSpace Managed Hosting.

Charge Capture Tools
IM Practice Manager is built around Ingenious Med’s Charge Capture and Coding Suite, which helps physicians capture a larger number of charges, decrease denials, improve collections per encounter, improve denial reimbursements, and improve quality of care. Utilizing a two-tiered code validation system (CodeCorrect™ and IM CodeCheck) in conjunction with the IM MasterCoder E&M coding and documentation tool, Ingenious Med charge capture and coding tools provide billing departments with cleaner bills, and enables billers to review and submit physician charges within hours of an encounter.

The Cross Cover sheet allows easy and rapid entry of pertinent patient information, such as the patient’s team, bed, age, race, sex, code status, issues, tests, consults, and to-do data for efficient patient care and handoff.
The IM Meds tool allows physicians to enter medications by simply clicking in the Meds field on the electronic file for the patient. Medications previously used are stored in a “favorites” database, so minimal typing is necessary.
The Discharge Summary provides physicians with a brief discharge summary for each patient. This information aids in physician-to-physician communication and, therefore, fluidity of care.
Coding and Compliance Tools
Coding and Compliance tools such as IM MasterCoder and IM Quality Measures (in conjunction with our two-tiered code validation system) allow physicians to capture all charges electronically and provide point-of-care coding, compliance and documentation input.
IM MasterCoder
Ingenious Med’s MasterCoder, an E & M documentation tool, automates what it would be like having a coding consultant with you at every patient encounter. Designed by physicians for physicians, IM MasterCoder allows practices to improve reimbursements while remaining compliant. Based on algorithms created by coding authority Tray Dunaway, MD, for his highly acclaimed Pocket Guide to Clinical Coding, this program walks physicians through a natural approach to coding their patient encounters.
IM MasterCoder provides a solution that educates, prompts and records E&M decision-making, all at the point-of-care. IM MasterCoder walks physicians through a natural risk-based medical decision-making approach that codes their patient encounters accurately and educates them step-by-step on proper documentation to avoid over and under-coding. IM MasterCoder constantly informs your clinicians on best coding & documentation practices, all at the point-of-care.
Education is the key. Physicians who use IM Mastercoder at the point-of-care are exposed to a streamlined process of documentation and learn exactly what their documentation notes should include in order to justify the level of charge.
Along with Ingenious Med’s IM Business Intelligence coding reports, IM MasterCoder provides the missing piece to complement existing coding & billing compliance programs.
IM Quality Measures
Ingenious Med’s industry-unique IM Quality Measures module enables physicians and practice administrators to document, capture, report, and submit quality performance metrics.
Physicians and practices that track quality performance can enhance revenues, improve clinical care, and prove practice value to employing hospitals, payers and patients. IM Quality Measures also helps physicians participate in pay-for-reporting and pay-for-performance initiatives such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s (CMS) Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI).
Communication Tools
IM Practice Manager has processes and tools to facilitate and improve inter-staff communication while optimizing patient handoff/transition and fulfilling JCAHO requirements for electronic sign out and peer-to-peer communication. The IM communication tools are designed to streamline communications between inpatient physicians and their colleagues, administrators, billers, patients, and primary care physicians.
Communication tools provide inpatient physicians with chat, messaging and cross-cover capabilities, which enable physicians to disseminate critical practice and clinical information to each other in real-time. This suite serves as the communications center for all sites. Frequently used Web links, practice templates and documents can be stored on the IM Practice Home Page for easy access.
Business Intelligence Tools
IM Business Intelligence tools enable physicians and administrators to measure, view and analyze physician and practice performance data in real-time. IM Practice Manager aggregates billing and performance data across multiple sites, enabling practices to prove their value to their hospitals, as well as to optimize physician and practice performance. HIS/ADT Integration
Live HL7, CSV (or other as available from HIS) feed of patient demographic information. This interface allows Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants who use IM Practice Manager’s web interface to pull patients onto their census and automatically populate the key fields.
Billing Integration
Daily Transfers of collected charge data that is transmitted electronically to your billing company or billing software.
