Ingenious Med Introduces New Solution for Physicians to Measure Performance and Participate in Government Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI)

Atlanta, GA – June 28, 2007 – Ingenious Med today introduced the latest addition to its suite of inpatient practice management solutions, IM Quality Measures™. The module enables physicians to document and report on clinical quality measures and allows practices to participate in “pay-for-performance” and “pay-for-reporting” financial initiatives such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s (CMS) Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI).
IM Quality Measures™ seamlessly integrates with the rounding, charge-capture and billing functionality of Ingenious Med’s IM Practice Manager™, the nation’s leading inpatient charge capture, practice management and reporting system. Along with real-time interactive quality prompts, IM Quality Measures™ enables physicians and practice administrators to document, capture, report, and submit quality performance metrics in order to enhance revenues, improve clinical care, and prove practice value to employing hospitals, payors and patients.
Dave Dookeeram, FACHE, Principal at Hospital Medicine Advisors comments, “CMS has taken another step towards value-based healthcare purchasing with PQRI. To qualify for financial incentives, physicians must individually document and report their compliance with CMS-established measures of quality care.” Dookeeram adds, “The administrative burden of compiling and reporting this data is significant and costly. IM Quality Measures™ eliminates the administrative costs of PQRI reporting and promotes compliance at the point-of-care.”
“Physicians are being presented with a unique opportunity to not only report on their care quality, but also earn a little revenue while doing so,” says Steven Liu, MD, founder and CEO of Ingenious Med. “Not only will our clients be able to reach CMS’s July timeframe for initiating PQRI reporting, but they’ll also optimize the returns from participating in such programs. I believe that the government’s drive for quality and performance will only become stronger. Therefore, we’ve built IM Quality Measures™ as a scalable product to allow practices to measure and report performance measures for the next several years, whatever they may be.”
About Physician Quality Reporting Initiative
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will launch PQRI on July 1, 2007 and it will continue until December 31, 2007. Under this voluntary program, eligible professionals successfully reporting a designated set of quality measures may earn a bonus payment of 1.5% of total allowed charges for covered Medicare physician fee schedule services. The 2007 PQRI quality measures are evidence- and consensus-based measures reflecting the work of many national organizations involved in quality measure development and consensus endorsement.
