Cardiovascular Associates of Mesa (CVAM), a14-provider cardiology group based in Mesa, Ariz.,had been using its electronic health record to capture office charges for some time. But a couple of years ago, the practice leaders realized that CVAM had a significant opportunity to improve revenue by improving patient care and automating the capture of hospital charges. The group decided to adopt Ingenious Med’s electronic charge capture solution to eliminate these losses and to ensure that no patients were missed on rounds.

Kyle Matthews, CEO of CVAM, notes the importance of enabling CVAM’s physicians, who share call, to communicate online with one another when they’re handing off patients. “Now they have the patient demographics and the diagnosis in the Ingenious Med database, and they can write notes on what they want the other doctors to know.” This greatly reduces the time they previously spent trying to reach other physicians by phone, he says.

CVAM providers appreciate having a web-based charge capture system, because they round in seven hospitals. The doctors also like being able to do their charges and notations at home or in other locations.
