By Physicians For Physicians  The company recognizes the unique challenges that inpatient managers face and the growing demands placed upon them as their practices mature.     Ingenious Med was developed in 1999 by four inpatient physicians.With a background in software engineering, Dr. Steven Liu had an eye for spotting emerging technology. With the evolution of mobile devices such as Palm Pilots, he saw how devices such as these could drastically change the healthcare industry’s billing and coding system. Typically, hospitals would hand-write charges and then manually enter the data, a process often resulting in numerous errors for hospitals. Dr. Liu knew a physician who lost more than 50 patient cards, which contained all their billing information. This caused the hospital to lose more than $100,000 worth of charges. The incident gave Dr. Liu the idea to develop Ingenious Med (along with 3 of his colleagues). Dr. Liu wanted to make it possible for physicians to eliminate paper records for an electronic practice management system.   The original practice management application quickly expanded beyond just mobile devices and is now an SaaS application that is web-based. Over the last ten years, our company and product have evolved to be an industry-leading technology. Our product design continues to be driven by both our customers and our clinical advisory board. We believe in the philosophy of rapid development, and align our development projects with customers’ needs and industry demands. We highly value the input we receive from our clients and view our users as design partners.    A vital resource in its own right, Ingenious Med’s client base represents the largest aggregation of hospitalist performance information in the industry. With detailed input from more than 3,000 inpatient physicians, our company continuously evaluates best practice metrics as benchmarks for practice performance and can provide clients with real-time, actionable management data. Ingenious Med works with more than 500 facilities in 40 states.
